What to do if you experience an electrical outage in your home

During an electrical outage in your home, the most important thing to do is remain calm.

Short-term outages are usually caused by weather conditions, equipment malfunctions, or other similar issues and often only last a few hours.

Keep track of the time as much as possible because any longer than a few hours should trigger concern.

In larger-scale power outages, you may need to burn candles or use flashlights for light - always leave these in sight.

Moreover, many electronics, such as computers and cell phones, will not work during an outage - so there’s no sense stressing about the non-functioning devices!

Stay safe and prepared with some nonperishable snacks, water packs, and a first aid kit just in case the lines are down for too long.
